The first time, I met Thakur was in 2001. My wife and I had come to Nepal two years before, to have a six days trek in the southern Annapurna range. While we enjoyed all the walking, we decided to start a longer trek next time, merely around the whole Annapurna circuit. For this time Thakur was introduced to us as guide, and I have to admit, that I found him very young for doing this job (Nepalese people look often much younger they really are).

However, as soon as we started the tour all my prejudices were wiped out immediately. Thakur, assisted by his congenial porter Gharkul, did a perfect organization, and more than this: since the moment we left Kathmandu it became more and more, that we found we're traveling with friends, although we've seen the first time only a few days ago. Its no wonder, that making the circuit remains an unforgettable adventure.

Even after having finished the trek, we kept contact and I think its no surprise telling you, that we decided to walk to the Everest region, again under Thakur's leadership. You may understand my disappointment, when Thakur told me, he had to cancel the trek, because of personal problems, but he gave us his brother Hari, who did an excellent job as well. Even when I fell the day before crossing the Cho la pass, he rearranged the whole trek (and did his best i could get better as soon as possible), so i didn't found the tour finally spoiled.

To come to an end, its hardly imaginable for me to find some better guides than Thakur and Hari - they both started as guides and stayed as friends. Trekking with them means enjoying holidays from the beginning.
